Gift of Friends of Philbrook in honor of Reading and Bates

My Daughter and I are crazy about beauty and art... We will go into an artsy boutique, a trendy store , or museum and just gawk, forgetting all time and space...until the boys and my husband drag us away from whatever it is that mesmerized us in the first place... The more we create the more we want to know, to see more, we find ourselves drawn to and respecting other artists and art forms, we often search out towns and museums to go on a day or weekend trip to just to see something amazing and so beautiful it breaks your heart...

Our family loves going to Tulsa, OK, to the Gilcrease and the museums in Little Rock, AR, we are planning another weekend trip to Little Rock to visit the submarine museum again in a few weeks.

We have two shops on Etsy and we love creating things together as well as separately...I am trying to enjoy the time I have with her this summer we are doing a lot of photography, sewing, and jewelry work. We are even in the process of building a dress form for her, from scratch via the Burda Style build your own dress form method using duct tape...

I will have to post pics of it when we finish it up so far making it has been unbelievably funny!

I was given a lot of Vintage Fabric and Now I must decide What To Do With It All

Photo shows Rose bib necklace...I made this using some of the vintage fabric my mother in law had stashed and recently gave me and from what my mother gave me that had belonged to a family friend.... I have it listed in my foreverandaday.etsy.com shop.

My mom seems to bring lots of things when she comes up to visit us, last time she visited she gave me a treasure. An elderly family friend who was a seamstress passed away had lots of fabric stashed and her family was throwing it all away. My mother to the rescue asked if she could give me some of it and they gave her boxes of what they hadn't dumped yet...(I hate to think of what they had thrown out...but I am not complaining about what they gave me it was a wonderful way to share their mother with me)

I have a feeling she would be happy to know her stash of fabric is being loved and carefully used. I have several yards of lots of fabrics that I have fallen in love with and don't know what to do with except pull out and ooh and aww over the vibrant prints. I really don't know how I will use it all but I do love looking and dreaming and creating and sewing and ...well I have made a few things out of fabric that I have a larger amounts of or her scraps that she was saving up. There is a box with cut up patterns stuck inside the original envelops...that are from the fifties and sixties, so very stylish and feminine. I wash all the fabric using the delicate settings and dry them carefully as well...I usually iron them and fold it up until I get time for creating : )

This Year We Decided To Do A Staycation

My three year old playing in Beaver Lake, NW Arkansas Just outside of Eureka Springs, Arkansas

We have been busy this year for our vacation, or rather staycation.
The lake is always fun and pretty cheap entertainment for our family of six, we also enjoy Silver Dollar City and decided to get season passes. We went for Kids Fest and rode so many rides we didn't see any of the shows so the kids already want to go back and just do the shows next time.

This Thanksgiving

I am very happy to be going away to visit our family this Thanksgiving, we have four children and we usually have a gathering at our home but this year we are going to be on the road books on CD and video games and any other entertainment we can find for the kids because when they get bored they tend to fight and complain about anything and everything...

We hope that the traffic is not to bad and that our five hour trip down there will be safe so keep us in your prayers... : )
We have quite a lot of family and friends in the Military that will be very missed this year and we want to let them know we love them and are looking forward to them getting home safe and sound...The picture has my step brother Robert Lee, he is in Iraq his family is in Fort Hood TX,
It will be the first year in a long time we haven't cooked a turkey or made a ton of pies and deserts. I always was worried about my kids messing up someones house or walking in with dirt on their shoes but I have just decided life is to short to worry about things like that and just go with the flow have fun and visit our loved ones and enjoy the short time we have together because we so seldom can find the time to do such things with the ones we love so very much. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving this year!

I am really thankful for my family today

Yesterday was really crazy, I had lots of orders to get packed up, I was so happy about that: )

My daughter needed to get to school to usher at the school play so I took her and my husband stayed home with our three boys...yea..again...( I really was happy not to take them, the little one doesn't do well at things like that yet...)

Anyway the Play -You Can't Take It With You- Was Amazing! The Drama Kids were fantastic actors and actresses, I was very proud of them all! ...can't you tell : ) Then the next funny thing that happened ...

I took my daughter out for a burger at a restaurant and the waitress thought we were a "Couple" So ...my daughter was mortified...but I was almost complemented... isn't that funny, when I took the check and told her she was my daughter the lady was embarrassed and looked really confused too...
Oh I wonder what adventures await today...

ugg...House Cleaning Is the only thing I see scheduled for today...FUN!
